Rev. Ben Hollingsead has returned to St. John’s and was installed as the new senior pastor on April 8, 2018. Pastor Ben was an intern here at St. John’s.  He took a call to Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville, WI and left St. Johns in February 2013 and served as an associate pastor there for five years.

Growing up with a father in the Air Force, he and his family moved around frequently.  He was born in Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska and has lived in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Wichita, Kansas, and then back to Omaha, Nebraska. He worked civil service for the Air Force for five years doing purchasing and contracting.

He attended Bellevue University, for his undergraduate degree for business administration. However, the business world was not his calling. “Instead of being a profit margin for a company, I felt I wanted to be a profit margin for people and lift them up,” Pastor Ben said.

Rev. Ben Hollingsead thought about becoming a teacher but decided to become a pastor. “Church was always a place of healing in family,” he said.  “Some of the best role models I had were pastors and the Junior ROTC instructors in high school.”

In 2009, Pastor Ben moved to St. Paul to attend Luther Seminary. He met his wife, Amber, and the two were married Jan. 15, 2011.  They have three children: Addison, Eden, and Teddy. His wife Amber is originally from North Branch, and they really like this area because her family is here. His family still lives in Omaha, NE.
